About this experience
Description
A day in paradise and a real adventure for the whole family, at the far western tip of Crete. West of Kissamos, beyond the village of Kaliviani, stretches the wild Gramvousa peninsula. From the port of Kissamos a pleasant cruise brings you first to the island of Gramvousa. Along the way look out for the ancient shipyard of Tarsanas and the striking geological uplift of the coastline, raised 6 to 9 metres above sea level.
On Gramvousa you can relax on the beach with its crystal-clear water, or climb the steep rock to the Venetian castle for an unforgettable view over the open sea and the lagoon.
A second short boat ride takes you to Balos, a shallow, warm lagoon with white sand and turquoise water, and one of the loveliest places on the island. Here you have plenty of time to swim and sunbathe before the cruise back to Kissamos.

Programme
- Early pick-up from your nearest pick-up point
- Arrival at Kissamos port and boarding
- Gramvousa island – approx. 1.5 hours (optional climb to the Venetian fortress)
- Balos lagoon – approx. 3 hours for swimming and relaxing
- Return to Kissamos port and drive back, arriving approximately 21:00 – 22:00

Duration: approximately 12 hours
Should take: Swimsuit, towel, change of clothes, hat, sunscreen, beachwear, comfortable shoes, camera.
Children: 0 – 2 years free of charge, 3 – 9 years 50% discount.
Extra cost on the day: environmental tax of 1€ per person, paid at Kissamos port.
Good to know: This is a long day with an early start. It is not recommended for non-swimmers, guests prone to sea or travel sickness, with heart conditions or mobility difficulties. Pets, non-folding strollers and wheelchairs are not allowed. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Smoking and alcoholic drinks are not permitted on the coach.
