The house is one of the traditional cave houses of Santorini. It is curved in the Santorinian Volcanic soil , which keeps the house warm in winter and cool during summer. The average temperature is about 19-20 degrees Celcius. Santorini might be famous for its whitewahed domed houses but it is also known for the traditional mainland villages cave houses. The cave houses - the so called "yposkafa" in Greek - can be found in many of the traditional villages in Santorini. They are functional and of great historical and architectural interest, as it is a living proof of the earlier years...
